Square steering cable question

after letting a friend ride my square last fall he bent my steering cable on the bar end.

I have the new cable( thanks Jetmaniac). my old one was routed between the fuel tank and waterbox. it almost looks like it should go behind and around the waterbox. what way is correct? thanks! cant wait to get back on the water!!

The one you have May be a bit longer so it will have to be routed behind the waterbox. Just be sure to protect it from heat from the waterbox by slipping some 3/8" water line onto the cable.

there both the same length. I built my square from scratch without another around so I may have done some things that work but are not correct. can any of you take a peek next time the hood is up and get back to me? I don't want to do this again soon if I don't have to!

Honestly, it doesn't really matter if you run it in front or behind the waterbox. Just protect it from getting burned.
