How much did that run you, if you dont mind me asking or if it was even close to what it'd be for a stand up? :dunno: I am interested. Can I have a my paint guy do this or do I have to send it somewhere? Thanks.

Cost

I can coat pretty much anything with any of our metals, check out the website for examples. As for cost, well thats kind of a grey area, most of the cost is in the prep work, as for the coating itself it is about $100.00 a SQ Ft.
That includes a full high polish and clear coat, I highly recommend the clear coat or you will spend a lot of time polishing:smile: . I would love to get some parts to coat, I have coated my Factory Mod chamber and its holding up with no problems, the metal coating is rated to over 400 degrees.

The prep work is pretty close to prep for paint, with the exception of the last sanding will be a rough 80 grit, so the metal can make a good mechanical bond with the substrate. But I learned the hard way body work has to be perfect because it will telescope through the metal!

that looks so cool!!!

It looks like it even has "grain"
Does it show smudges as easy as say stainless???

Good job!!!!!

It looks like metal, with clear coat on it. If you wanted, you can even produce a brushed alluminum sort of a looks. If you don't clear the ski, it tranishes like a SOB.

I think you need red graphics or a diferent seat. the metal looks pretty sweet!

I told him the same thing. He needs red in the ski to tie in the seat.

I could not even put a sticker on that. Came out sweet!

The pictures just don't do it justice. You really have to see the thing in person.

graphics

I am working on a Red Kandy coat to add the graphics. I am trying to produce an anodized look. I will keep you updated with pics

Thanks for all the great comments!

Pretty much the same thing that happens to paint, it cracks, but it does not delaminate. a coating of any kind is only as strong as its substrate material.

one of the bypass fittings has stress cracks around it. The hulk decided to over tighten it, and it cracked around it. Looks just like a stress crack on any paintjob.

Looks great!

Did you use gloss black as your base coat? (I know the base color is very key to the final look)

I've seen a car completely painted in this chrome paint. I tried taking pictures and after looking at pictures, it doesn't do it justice.

BTW: They make a vinyl fabric that has that same (satin) chrome look.

this is a real metal application, not paint, so there is not base coat. It is cold sprayable metal. here is an example, if I were to coat something with our iron metal and not apply a clear coat it will rust, paint does not rust. I have seen\heard some real horror stories of people using the paint product. Not to take a shot at the paint, just trying to explain the product.

"just look like a off chrome paint..."

Sorry you see it that way :frown: , I am sure that you would feel different if you saw it in person!
