After all the hard work and many hours searching for the perfect place to have this year's Lanier Ride...... We have found (2) wonderful options. I would love some "constructive" feeback from the members on this site before making our final decision.....

Option 1: May 4th - 6th, Lake Martin, Alabama

http://www.alapark.com/parks/park.cfm?parkid=11

Both the Marine Police and the campground are cooperating fully with us!

Option 2: May 18th - 20th - Lake Allatoona, Georgia

http://www.allatoonalandingmarina.com/

The Campground is private and ecstatic on having this event here! Normally the DNR are not a problem in this area but we have not spoken to them personally

knowing that the Bama Marine Popo is cooperating ...that's a pretty big hurdle right there. Any chance on getting some feedback from the Georgia DNR on this new site in particular? Either way- however it shakes down... nice work Paul!
:woot:

well speaking for my friends and I we would vote for the second option, only because the first one is scheduled the week before our college finals. i am out of school may 10th so anytime after that would be great:biggthumpup: and the one in GA is over 2 hours closer to us northern boys...

Psssst, That was in the organizers forum!!

:haha:

WOW>.. I just laughed at myself... that was really bad !

Both places look Great.... say where and when...
I think the bigger the lake the better... then you stick out less....
Like at the inlet... they always nail the Vinnie/joes from da north !

I like the beach on Lake Allatoona. That sounds pretty nice. Though I would be hesitant until it was cleared through DNR. The Lake Martin location looks very nice as well and the more positive the locals are about us holding the event in that location the better IMO.

parrdaddy

No he will not!
I think if the Georgia DNR doesn't want to allow us on Lanier, then we should take our business elsewhere.......OUT OF GEORGIA!

I like Harrison, and he's from Alabama

I like the idea of not being in Ga considering how we were treated before. You never know what a phone call to the DNR by the wrong person could do to our good time. Probably would be best to have Jett set up a poll and just have every one vote.

Our panel has to ultimately make the decision, there are pluses & minuses to both sites & dates. We are just looking for a little feedback, not to make the decision for us.
But Thank you for the suggestion!

My vote goes to Lake Martin. I'll attend either and be equally as happy. I think right now the DNR uncertainty makes Altoona a little shaky. If it's on Lake Martin, my brother said he'd bring his sailboat across the lake for the weekend to hang out, but it doesn't kick up much of a wake:rolleyes:

I would vote for a location that WANTS our business... Lake Martin.

EDIT: didnt notice the date... Sucks, cant make this. I dont, but to many friends still have exams in college.

I vote for second option, I cant go to the first, way too close to exams. 18-20 is the weekend right after we finish up exams, so that would be awesome!

yes take into consideration early may is when colleges get out so that may affect a good amount of the "younger" generation.

Edit:can you schedule the AL location from may 18th-20th?

Not a option for that date at Lake Martin - Already have a big fishing tournament and wouldn't allow us to have our riding area......

My wish is for Lake Allatoona since it is closer and easier on the planners! I also am planning on doing the big dinner again this year and (3) hours is just too long for my staff to deliver dinner......:cheer:
