Super Jet Someone educate me on ride plate designs

I'm curious on the effects of different ride plates. Can someone explain the differences in the plates and what they do? I did some research on them but would like others opinions on ride quality, weight of rider, purpose (flatwater vs. Surf)

D cut -

(from WaveJunkies)
Purpose: The purpose of cutting a 'D' shape is to allow the back end of your ski sink a little deeper in the water and force the nose of your ski to rise. This mod makes a tremendous increase in low-mid speed handling with minimal impact on high speed runs.
Recommended for: highly recommended for all standups, all riding styles, riders < 215lbs

Extended -

Then there are variations of designs. I'm mostly curious what people ride and what is it like when the ride plate is very short and the jet sticks out past by several inches?

Plate 1 allows the nose to lift quicker on waves and setup waves.
Plate 2 will act as a brake so to speak coming into turns.
Plate 3 will track pretty good and then when you go into a turn it will allow the nose to lift so you dont go into a sub on hard turns around bouys (If your running bouys)
Plate 4 is a race plate that will keep the nose from lifting and increase stability.
Plate 5 same as plate 2. newer version

i like my d cut stock plate, picks the nose up better, im 240 pds, and still tracks good at full speed

Any problems with porpoising with the D cut? I'm ~240 as well and am curious.

What about pump designs that have the pump sticking out from the rear of the ski so far? What ride characteristic does that do? Look at this superfreak to see what I'm talking about. The pump is far past the ride plate.

I ride a d cut. I've weighed 190-225, I've never had a problem with it porpoising and it increases handling while still being able to slide out when you want. After riding with one for so long, the stock plate feels way to slippery to slash with.

I have a home made rather large D cut from a stock SN plate. I do have some porpoising issues but if lean forward enough it goes away. Im on a SN and i weigh about 155 and have about a 6 or 7 inch diameter cut

i havent notice porposing, its on a rn stock plate d-cut ride plate. i would also like to know bout the pump extending out so far, i believe they run a setback pump on the super freak, which i think will give u more leverage for back flips.

im 240 mine works great on my sxr it really lets the nose up and when at speed just get on the chines and it turns just fine.it defiantly will change your ride style a bit.

Thanks...yours must be the standard length, since I already hacked a good bit off mine and it is still 16 3/8" long. So, mine must have been the extended length. Now we both know. :)

A concave plate has the effect of adding fins to a flat plate while remaining race legal. They make the ski want to go straight but also reduce steering authority. Extended plates are for faster planing and porpoise reduction. This keeps the hull flatter in rough water but make it harder to get the nose up. Jet dynamics combines both which is great for racing but goes against everything people here are trying to do. Superjets get by with short and even D-cut plates very well as long as the pole is not too long for the size of rider. Always make sure that the rear edge is at or slightly below contour or else it will induce porpoising.

I just switched from Worx dominator to a stock plate. The Worx really shoved my nose down a bunch. It was much harder to jump and move the rear end around.

I am really happy with just the stock plate at a weight of 210. I hear the WOrx dominator cut down to stock length is a good alternative for 200+ riders. Not as aggresive as a full blown D-cut, but the smaller d cut help with sticking the nose up and traction.

I just switched this weekend to the Blowsion D-cut plate and love it. I tried it 2 years ago, and it felt too squirelly...since my plate at that time was apparently an extended length jet dynamics and I had gotten too used to it. I tried that JD plate also cut down a few inches (basically making it standard JD length), and I'm still preferring the D-cut plate now. I'm 5'7" and 150lbs and this was on standard Lake Ontario chop as well as flatwater. I've finally become a D-Cut believer...I can finally get out of the water on a set-up wake. :)

I think I'd like to get a second ride plate. I have an XFT hull which I believe is based on a first gen RN SJ but 5 inches shorter.
I just measured my ride plate and it's 11 inches.
I just got this ski and tried everything with my body weight and couldn't get the porpoising to stop. Any suggestions on the next ride plate I should try out?

I have a protec plate on mine which is a little longer then stock and it handles great, I can move the nose around fine and the rear sticks just the way I like it. My girlfriends is stock but she has sponsons so I can't really compare.

Maybe contact XFT and ask about plates and what will bolt up and if they can make you a longer one
