Just got this months National Geographic Adventure in the mail today and saw this full page ad for South Africa on the 3rd page. :arms:

Yep it looks like an old pic. It's pretty cool though. It caught my eye very easily and a nice pic as well. I'm not sure who the rider is but the ski has CA numbers.

If that's the case....

A) He needs to update his style a bit, those shorts and that jacket are just no good.

B) He'd better watch out for the cops.....I don't think they are too keen on ski with registration tags from 1992. (the red square next to the CF #'s).

It's definitely not an '82.....that wouldn't make sense on a square. And it's DEFINTELY not an '02, that seems pretty clear.

It's cool that it's in such a large publication sure....I just think it would be more impressive if the ad agency responsible for it actually realized that there are currently people doing just that. I don't think anyone will dispute that jetskiing was actually still "cool" in the early 90's

Its not really unusual for tourism ads to have outdated pics in them. I notice it when they show other sports too. They dig up file photos or footage and use them in adds. We (jetskiers) need to figure out a way to make pics and footage available to ad agencies and other media outlets.

The ads for South Africa, but the ski is registered in California??

Makes sense.

But the background is Capetown. Since its a travel ad, it would make sense that someone traveled there with their ski. Either way I still think its good exposure for the sport.

Not to be anal but alot of states have different abbreviations. Wisconsin is WS, Michigan is MC. I can't remember the other states off the top of my head but you get the picture.

first time I saw CF on a boat, I was like... Wiskey Tango Foxtrot?

Someone had to tell me it was for Cali... But at least he didn't look at me like I was stupid, I take it its not the first time he had to answer the question..

I guess I never looked at other boats... I am on the WI boarder, so I will look, but I thought they were WI....?? I could be wrong...

WN might be washington state unless I am getting WS and WN confused
