As we all know, the B-pipe seems to be the pipe to have for Yamahas. The prices are quite high though.
I wanted to make a suggestion so that all of you have some opportunities to get an aftermarket pipe, perhaps with out paying rediculous prices. Additionally, we may learn something from someone trying some of this.
The Factory pipe manifold flange is based on a Kawi 650 (uses Kawi 650 bolts and gasket).
If you can get your hands on a FP manifold or Coffmans manifold and you can find a Kawi 650 exhaust system (stock ones go for as little as $5.00 + shipping on PWCT and eBay) you can get yourself a system that would likely perform better than stock.
The 650 chambers are a bit smaller than the B chambers, but I would bet they offer a performance gain over OEM Yamaha.
Perhaps some people can do this as an experiment and get back to us. I think it will certainly be fine for improving 650s and mild 701s. Not sure about the bigger cc motors though.
Just a thought.
