Some Ideas on Pipes for Yamaha

As we all know, the B-pipe seems to be the pipe to have for Yamahas. The prices are quite high though.

I wanted to make a suggestion so that all of you have some opportunities to get an aftermarket pipe, perhaps with out paying rediculous prices. Additionally, we may learn something from someone trying some of this.

The Factory pipe manifold flange is based on a Kawi 650 (uses Kawi 650 bolts and gasket).

If you can get your hands on a FP manifold or Coffmans manifold and you can find a Kawi 650 exhaust system (stock ones go for as little as $5.00 + shipping on PWCT and eBay) you can get yourself a system that would likely perform better than stock.

The 650 chambers are a bit smaller than the B chambers, but I would bet they offer a performance gain over OEM Yamaha.

Perhaps some people can do this as an experiment and get back to us. I think it will certainly be fine for improving 650s and mild 701s. Not sure about the bigger cc motors though.

Just a thought.

not a bad thought for a cheap mod.;

i have a coffmans/yami manifold and some kawi 650 pipes. i never thought of trying that. if i did try it, id have to remove one of 2 bpipes we have installed on our SJs though. and thatd be nutty!

It would be interesting to hear what you found and you could be a hero for a lot of people.

Maybe the smaller 650 pipe has some hidden benefit for low-end. If you ever get a few hours, it would be nice to hear the results of it.

If you have the mod pipe, you might be able to get that out without taking out the tank and the 650 Kawi pipe is a two-piece design, so it can go in easily too.

Just think of all of those Kawi PJS and other Kawi pipes floating around out there for cheap.

I don't know. It's just my suspicion. I could be totally off.

I also have a stock Kaw 650 pipe. Just PM me if you are interested. As for performance.... I am modding a stock Kaw 650 pipe for use on my 650 X2. I will let you know how it performs on my X2.

I am wanting to jacket it and make it into a dry pipe .....:shooter3: :shooter3:

I've got a fx1 chamber, a limited chamber, a mod chamber, a 750sx limited and mod chamber, and a tnt chamber to try out. I'll do some testing later this month and let everyone know.

Yeah I was wanting to try a Yami B pipe FPP in my X2 like everyone is doing. I think though I will just stick to the FPP Kaw 650 pipe. That way I know it is best yet if I want to try a different pipe, I just need to switch out the chamber and water box hose. I have been eying the 800 SXR wet pipe though.... It kinda looks like it will fit... :) :(:)
