but not long ago i saw a riva with the close together manifold as well
Most of the riva ones have correct 108 ?? mm spread

The manifolds where the carbs are closr together have a real nasty short side radius and it tend to throw the fuel to the out side
I have found that it tends to blow your ski up if you get any real hp out of it
In fact so much that i will not tune anyones ski with this manifold on

i didnt believe it until i changed manifold and saw the difference

A cavity that connects the the two intake tracks, sometimes called a "balance tube". OEM manifolds have them, most aftermarket manifolds do not.

Yes, they do. I don't know if they are worth filling in, Yamaha must have put them there for a reason...

i just fill my crossover tubes with jb weld
it works just fine

What is bad about the carbs being close together on the original R&D manifolds? I have been told that the dominator is much better, but I thought it was only because the setup allowed for the carbs to be removed alot easier. Whats the scoop?

They are talking about the standard R&D Manifold, not the Dominator/boysen style.....
