SN to RN Swap

I know there have been thread about this in the past, but I can't really find a good one right now.

I have a square nose Sj with a 1998 SJ 701.

AS far as I have read, everything will switch except,

Midshaft
Pole
Hood
Nose piece
Pole spring
Bracket

My question is, will the steering system switch over?

Also, is there anything i am forgetting?

94-95 SN midsahaft will work. Pre 94 are the smaller ones and they will not switch over.

Things that will from any year SN:

(almost everything...)
SS switch
motor mounts
motor
ebox
steering cable
throttle cable
pump
ride plate (but the bolts are different and the SN uses 4 instead of 6)
intake grate
water box
exhaust hose (you'll have to cut it and heat it at the end to get it to slip on)

pole bracket and spring are different, as well as hood hooks

midshaft should work, but the midshaft houring wont.

Don't do it! When the RN fad dies out, you'll wish you still had your SN. Ha, just kidding, I'm goin to do this in a few years from now as I'm just building/parts hoarding a SN as we speak.

lol I really love my square ( I just got it) but I found a round nose hull in Canada (rare) so I may buy it and sit on it until winter. Then work slowly to get it ready for next spring!

Seems almost everything will work which is nice. Mid shafts go for about what $100 or so?

$75-100 for a good one and around $30-60 for one that needs to be rebuilt.

WSM sells the bearing housing for pretty cheap, but then you'll need to press in the shaft. (thats what she said)

Right on 75 to 100 isn't bad at all. I'm glad everything else fits. That way I can drop the whole load in her and rip! ( that's what she said) lol

what about steering?

Get the RN long exhaust hose. Dont bother heating it or trying to make it fit, do it right.
