small problem

i ride my superjet "recreationally" on big lakes but i dont have a reserve. on my 550 i just ran it until it started sputtering, switched to reserve and rode back. So is there a simple way to know how much gas i have left? (other than taking the hood off and looking) i was thinking of one of those hour meters that is self contained and automatically records time based on vibrations from the engine. or i guess i could wear a watch or something. Its a pain to take off the hood and look at the tank when ur floating in the water.

Don't ride too far from shore... You should know how much time you have with a full tank. Depends on your riding style obviously.

Just always fill up when leaving. Chances are you'll get tired quicker than your tank runs out

for some dumb reason i let my friends ride too. and usually we are out in a cove far away from camp. so its hard to judge how much i have left b/c im not always the one riding it. Guess ill just have to take the hood off every now and then...

exactly. before you go out, check the gas level. you should know how fast your ski goes threw a tank/halftank. once it gets down to 1/4 left, fill it up

This is along similar lines of a question I have. Since I returfed my Jet, my On/Off/Res isnt labelled anymore. Wasnt a problem last year, but I feel like a complete ass because now I cant remember which side is ON and wich is RES. It's aligned just like it was stock, so could any one tell me how it came in '96?

I forget, but you can check by taking the fuel line off the tank (main) and blowing through it. If you can, its switched to on, if you cant, its on off or RES.

I think ON is the farthest counter clockwise position (tick mark upwards) OFF is to the side, and RES is furthest clockwise position (tick facing down)

ride for 90 minutes, top it off, ride for another 90, etc. until you fall over from exhaustion or it gets dark
