Slutty hood mod problems

I read a bunch of different hood mods that people have done and then decided to do it myself. It's probably based mostly on what Nick did, but I mainly just read everything and went at it. Anyhow, now the hood fits funny. Even though the hood hooks go exactly where they did before, the gap between the hood and nose piece seems bigger AND the front edge of the hood doesn't seal anymore. It's behind the hood seal. Please look at the pics and comment on what I should do. I was thinking that the front edge of the hood is bowed back, but that should allow the hood to sit more foward on the ski and give a smaller gap between the hood and nose piece. I was careful to not let the hood liner bow anything or change the shape, but either I wasn't carefull enough or I should have bowed it out.
Thanks,
Garrett

Was the leading edge of the hood slightly concave inwards before mate?

Now you have re-inforced it with your baffle you have made it straighter and its move the hood just enough to not sit on the seal.

Think the only way youre gonna sort this one dude is make some custom hood hooks?

I really can't remember what the front lip of the hood looked like before so I don't know if the shape changed. I know that I didn't get the hood hooks wrong because I only took off the bottom bolt on each side and left the hooks themselves on. So I'm the only retard to get the hood mod wrong? I guess you have to be good at something:rolleyes:

Havent got it wrong guv, youve obviously moved or overlooked somethin.

Easy mistake to make.

Do you have any buddies with a stock squarenose hood you can borrow to trial fit?

Make sure the stock one fits then compare your modified one to the stocker, cant be that hard to sort

the stock hooks are crap. if you hyper-extend the pole, itll push on them and move everything back AND make the hood hard to take off.

my suggestion is to lose the stock hooks, get some aftermarket hooks and re-drill them exactly where the hood wants to sit/seal and put nuts under the backing plate. cant go wrong with alignment that way AND you 86 the stock pieces of azz.

Sounds like what I'll have to do. Can you recommend a brand? I'm picking up a square from Chic whenever we both have time so I may wait until then to see what exactly is wrong. Don't know of anyone else around with a square.
Thanks,
Garrett

im running the new style xmetals on my round but on my square, i was running the old style xmetals.

the new style is better but it takes some time to align properly. i think i prefer the old style for the square because of how tight the hood-removing situation is.

I would try to bend the hood hooks down to make it seal tighter, if that doesn't help... hmmmmmm???

I'll think about this one.....

T-bone

brraap....thats so 2002
pull the hood clamps off the handle pole bracket and make sure they are not bent up real bad. They will bend and hold the clamps back a little.
