Sliding track system vs gunwale plate-does anyone have access to a cnc machine/laser cutting?

Once ya get something shoot it my way, I use solid works and AutoCAD all day.

Have any suggestions for a cheap or free alternative? I had autocad 2000 but I put windows 7 on my old laptop and 2000 wont run on 64 bit. I don't have the specs necessary to run sketchup free so I haven't tried it. I'll probably need a computer before I can design anything for CNC. Right now I'm just working with flat objects I can draw on paper, cut myself and drop off somewhere to be welded.

OP, I just scanned through a few posts here so bare with me. First, all engine builders had to port their first cylinder at some point and with the sport port templates just follow the lines as best ya can, as smooth as you can. You're not trying to come up with a new way to make power or try different timing. I'm with ya, just do it and stop the back and forth with people. For your tray, footholds and basically just the whole hull mods youre doing. You asked for some input and ya got it. You got other peoples opinions and ya don't like them, ok that's fine. I do believe most comments were meant to help save you some frustration and were not meant to be malicious, while others not so much. You're not going to convince anyone, ya don't need to. You've convinced yourself that these are the things that you want to do to your hull and you feel it will make the hull better for you. Just do it, you've gotten plenty of input, how much more of the same do you want. Off the keyboard and into the garage son. Get on it and make it happen. If all the work you have planned just messes your ski up, well you'll have a messed up ski, but will have walked away with more experience. Plenty of cylinders that didn't "work" in shops of reputable builders. Plenty of hulls met their buddies at the dump too. Good luck and have fun. P.S. fwiw I'm pretty interested in the Stryker foothold setup.

I made my footholds with the intent of putting them on some type of track system and instead ended up fixing them in one position. Since then I have wanted to adjust them and also try out different styles but haven't because of the work involved in removing/swapping fixed holds. In my opinion, if you already want adjustable footholds, you probably won't find yourself next summer going "shoot, I really wish I had just glassed some in instead."

Depending on my college workload, it'll determine what I choose to do.
IMO I've done enough glasswork that none of this intimidates me and I'm fairly confident it'll turnout very well, but school has to come first too LOL.
If all else fails I'm adding a strap in the back/FFH, shortening hull from the outside, sponsons, and modding my holds with some sort of slight heal lock, and then do something with my cylinders.

Agreed you have it covered. It's a pretty straight forward job.

Doesn't look like these holds/tray work is going to happen this year. Going to budget my mods very realistically this year. Spending money on cylinder porting, lightened flywheel, etc. that will carry over to an a/m hull later on is a little more realistic. Shortening my hull from the outside will be cheap.
Thank you guys for the absolutely awesome input!

There you go. Who's going to port them?

Either php or nuklear6, depending on who comes through with the best deal.
Rosie. Please do not make your decision based on the best deal............ Make your pick based on who do you want to deal with. Who you feel is going to be there for you 6 months later when you need help or are wanting to make more changes........ When I had my first cylinder ported I researched who I wanted. I called around, talked to different people........ I talked to Chris Maros (24-7) and he recommended some guy that went by Jr. Magoo. He also mentioned a guy named Todd LeChance. I also talked to a contact at Greater Yamaha. He said contact TLR, that is who we recommend. He does Rick Roy's motor work. His name, Todd LeChance....... I contacted Todd, told him what I wanted and my plan. We made a game plan. I am still running this same setup. only variation is I am not running a single carb setup. Going on 15 years on this cylinder. I did not use it for 2 years. It has been resleeved once.

Awesome advice BK. I have heard nuklear6 does excellent work, but I would much rather go through php. I think php makes the most sense then.

Talk to both.......... I do not know Chuck. But have not heard anything bad either. I have met Zack and talked to him. Just do your research. Your relatively close to PHP.

I ride with some of the php guys and I have talked to zack numerous times as well. I sent my cylinders to php last year for a bore as well. All I know is if I endup needing help, it'll be fairly easy to get it from zack. But yeah, it's a 100$ difference between the two..
