Wait....it ran the same with 46? When was the last time it did run right? And what has changed since then?

when i put a stock head on it. thats the only thing i havent changed since. it had a protec girdle with 35cc domes. i am going to change it back to that tommarow, hopefully that is the problem.

Let us know how that turns out.
However, I do think that 701 stock jetting isn't going to work well at all with that setup, aftermarket head or not.

Did you use a new head gasket?

new head gasket, and new reeds. i think it is compression thats the problem. my ski i ride now acually hits so hard and has way more things to eat gas than this ski, and they have the same jets. it should at least rev up no matter what the jets are.

For comparison: I run dual 44's on my ski.
I run 115 pilots
It will not rev up with 112.5 pilots.

It runs great on the trailer. I think every single time my carbs were not tuned properly, the boat would run great out of the water, but crappy once in the water.
The difference is unloaded running vs. unloaded running. You cannot properly diagnose jetting problems with the engine unloaded.

BTW, I agree on 38's being a bit more forgiving that 44's.

i would go with the carb thing, but my other engine goes through WAY more gas and its jets are the same. this ski just has a pipe and port. my other ski has pipe, msd enhancer, lightweight flywheel, head...pretty much everything. even when it had my ported 760 it still ran great and that thing DEFINATLY drank more gas then this ski. I am going to switch out the head today and hopefully test it out today after work or test it tommarow after school. we will see:Banane01:

alrite, i put the head on, and as expected it sounded the same as ussual. SOoooo i put my protec sbns that are jetted at 70/140 and it didnt sound like it was missing under full throttle. it felt much better.
