Butt connectors will last you one season in the salt. Buy a spare now. OEM or weatherpacks work the best for our application.

The wires weren't long enough so I had to splice them. The 4 butt connectors are up in the pole hopefully it helps some. Even the waterproof heat shrink ones you think they only last 1 season? I bought a 25 pack so if they go I have more lol.

I'm telling you from experience I tried that. Butt connectors that had solder and heat shrink. It lasted me half a season. Buy an oem switch. It's worth the $$$

For me it usually goes at the most inopportune time, when the surf is big and I'm in the middle of a set. Then i'm trying to save a dead ski. That sucks. Certain parts you can skimp on, but not electronics in salt water.

Eastern beaver has the factory terminals, plugs, seals, and connectors. I redid the harness in my kawi and replaced everything. I also recommend just replacing the wire rather than trying to lengthen it, I have seen the same thing. I will say that liquid electrical tape helps but even with that I always cover with adhesive lined heat shrink, the regular kind doesn't seal up it just keeps dirt out.
