I have been asked for details on this project a few times now so I thought I would post it up for others to see. The bows are securely pinned in and cannot contact the cab or rear window and 20lbs in the airbags is more than sufficient to get the truck back on plane and balance the load.

Here's some pics of how easy loading is. The rope winch automatically locks so there is no risk of the ski coming back on you.

Here are some pics of how simple the rack actually is.

Material list is so;
2- 6"x6"s
2- 8' 2x4's, cut in half
16- galvanized 90° brackets
1 1/4" Galvanized Screws
Total cost was $40 using pressure treated lumber.

One of the main reasons I built the rack was to be able to carry my TBM Beach Cart without having to throw it on top of my skis and risk rub the paint.

Do you have a Hemi?
I have the Hemi and don't do that well on fuel economy.

How does it handle with that much weight up that high in the bed? I don't have air bags and don't really want to add them.
I don't mind pulling the trailer, but this would be nice for Daytona next year. Don't have to worry about trailer bearings and better MPG for the long trip down.

I have the 4.7 Magnum. Mileage this trip down has been less than stellar, With the rain and all I'm getting 15.6 MPG. 1 tank to get down to Daytona from Charleston.

I finally got my double trailer rigged out to carry my skis and a TBM Cart. Slick setup as well, just need to figure out how to get 3 fuel cans on the tongue with the cart.

Yeah I've seen those too but I am going to build a custom one soon that is strong enough to be the front ski attachment point, hold 3 cans, and holds my TBM cart in a similar fashion.

I can actually slide the skis back on the bunks almost 6 inches from where they are now once I design a different front attachment point. That will affset the tongue weight perfectly as well.

I like it! where did you get the pulley setup? and how much each?

I got the pulley from Tractor Supply for $49.95. The yonly problem I see is that it is not stainless but then again it really doesn't contact salt water much.
