x2 on checking needle and seat

most likely dripping fuel. like bluegtate said, heavy rich conditions on cold starts are ok, but once warm u'll flood quick.

don't think its the reeds since he says that it runs great once it starts.

i say check the needle and seat, and while u'r in there rebuild the carbs

BUT, if he has only had it a year and a half...

would he know the difference in it running " great as always..." and that of a tipped reed petal?

who knows.

I predict he gets it fixed.

MAYBE he will update this thread and tell us what it was.

bom bom bom, tune in next week to see if the needle and seat is dripping fuel or if onesojourner will have to remove his intake. here on "Why my ski won't start"

Katie’s ski was doing the same thing last Sunday, got hot and then would only idle well more like diesel and when she gave it any throttle it would die. We pulled the intake off to check reeds and found out they were dripping in fuel so we pulled the carbs cleaned them out reset pop off and all is good, one of the needles was getting stuck open when popped so we repaired.

I will keep you guys posted. The lake is 45 min away so I am going to get a flush kit built first. Then I will see if I am getting the same symptoms. This ski has always ran great. I have been on several 701s and it is the smoothest I have been on and it always starts the easiest.

ok another update. I built a flush kit so I could run it on the hose. Of course it started/stopped fine and never did anything weird. So yesterday we went to the lake. I have it narrowed down to the stop switch. I have my idle set low so the ski will idle for about 3 seconds and then it dies. If I let it die on its own its starts right back up. If I hit the stop button I have to let it sit for maybe 5 minutes before I start it.

I'm no expert, but I wouldn't say this narrows it down to the SS switch...
