Blaster ski doesnt always stop

On two separate occasions now my ski ('93 B1) will not stop when u hit the stop button or pull the lanyard. The only she will stop is if I pull a plug wire. It is intermittent at best and has only happened twice since I got the ski a year ago.

My concern is that this will happen after I fall off or someone else who's riding it falls, then the ski will keep going.

I have replaced the connectors leading from the switch to the ECU. Should I just get a new switch or is there someplace else I should be looking?

The ski will always start by pressing the green starter button even when the kill switch and stop button are not responding.

Ideas?

It's a bad stop circuit. It's either a bad start/stop switch (usually a cleaning will fix), broken black or white wire, or black and white wire connector near the e-box is bad.

eventually I finally bought a new start/stop switch from yamaha for my ski.

it does it in the water mostly. That's how I usually find that the switch isnt working. Then when i get it on the trailer, it still doesnt work. Then after I leave it for a while (during the week while it is in the garage) and go to restart it, she works fine 99% of the time.

I have yet to clean the contacts, so I will try that. I have not replaced the stock connector yet either, so I will try that if the cleaning doesnt work. Any ideas on what a replacement start/stop switch runs?

When it is not working, the start/stop does nothing at all, but the start button works fine all the time.

I cleaned the contacts and replaced the connectors and so far so good, everything works fine. If it does it again, I'll let you know.
