So....I bent up my 13/16 Concord a few weeks back. While it's getting fixed at Impros, I put in a Skat 14.5/18.5 (some racing prop I had laying around) in there.
To my surprise, it wasn't all that different than the Concord.
Then I bought a Skat Swirl 13/18 from Bonzai Bob. I installed that for a test run this past weekend.
HOLY COW!!! That thing hits noticably harder than my Concord!
The hit is instant and very hard. Me likey!

Anyways....I just purchased another Swirl that I'll be sending to Impros to get worked over.
I'll either sell the Concord or put it in my Square.

In the interest of science, I will be conducting a back-to-back test with the Concord.

Specs:
Solas Concord 13/16 cutback 3mm, ported pump, freestyle cone

Skat Swirl 13/18, not cutback, stock non-ported pump, stock cone

Yes. There is a lot of casting flash and overhang and all that on a stock 144mm Yamaha pump.

So now that it's backed by a reputable voice on the forums (i.e., me), your ramblings become a valid opinion!

I kid, I kid. :cool2:

This is what I have been saying!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never doubted you.

I definitely noticed the swirl hit harder on your boat than the concord hit on SJBrit's boat.

I'll def be going with a swirl, but I've got 2 questions:

1. Would a 13/17 pitch be perfect for a freeride limited setup?

2. How necessary is it to have the impeller cutback? Will it show a noticeable improvement? 3mm or 5mm?

Thanks:biggthumpup:

1. I ran a 13/18 this weekend. It hit awesome throughout and provided great topspeed.

2. The cutback is for rough-water hookup. It will not give you a "performance" improvement.

Glad too see that worked out for ya Matt:biggthumpup: We had that prop in the fx-1 but didn't work in that setup as well as expected. Thats the same prop I run on my square and I was thinking about switching to a concord this winter but I might just keep it now:sneaky:

how fickle thou art............your boat always ran good on that prop....now if we can only keep it running.............you sure got a pretty mouth... I mean engine.... ENGINE!!

Yup BK has been screaming it for sometme now. I know of the skat swirl secret...i just have no money/trading going on to get one

Bah...see, the nice thing about this is that the Concord is wildly more popular than the Swirl. So you oughta be able to switch to a Swirl and have change left over.
I know I will.
