I was just looking at the Skat website. I didn't get a clear answer as to what pitches are available in mag impellers. I imagine since they state you can have the impeller pitch "of your choice" included with the complete pump, that you can get almost any pitch? Anyone have a standard list of available 144 mag impellers?

All I see for sale on the X is 12/17 and 14/19 or the occasional 15/20. Anybody seen/have one less than 12/17?

I guess most guys running a 144 mag have brap so you seem to see 13/18 and up.... What's your plan bring back a 650 Yamaha or 500?

J/k

I know 148 I've seen a few 11/18, 12/17's and up to the normal sizes

Yeah, I'm throwing it in a JS 440. Looking to get some serious hookup for flatwater backys. This engine rips hard. The 550 was too much for me:(.

From my limited understanding with Mag Pumps/Impellers I thought you could use any big hub impeller the c75 and hookers are both big hub

All mag pump impellers are made to order, skat doesnt have any mag pump impellers on the shelf.

Most people dont buy a mag pump until they have at least a ported 701 motor setup, so usually they will want a minimum 12/17 or 13/18.

You need to be careful not to compare pitch numbers between skat, solas, and especially hooker.

I've run hookers on my stock pumps. Does anybody run a hooker on a mag?

I know I've read about that. I thought the general opinion was the hooker is setback too far for a mag pump and causes so much hookup that it kills the power of the engine. Going on memory here though...

I wouldn't go that far about setting the prop back in a mag.... All I can say is we play a lot in that area once the prop choice is close....

Its more difficult to change the load on large hub props so they have to be very close from the factory. There is no publicized information on pumps beyond meaningless names and numbers. Its hard to infer exactly how the pump that Joe Bob is using in his brappomatic will work in other skis. Unfortunately this is all that people have to go on.

I tested a 3mm setback 11/17 Hooker in my 144 setback mag today instead of the 14/19 and was quite impressed. I wasn't sure if my SS865 would would be too much for it but it worked out really well. One of the reasons I tried it was too loosen up my ski in the surf and to slide out easier. The Skat prop had much more hookup and tons more pull but that kind of traction is not necessarily a good thing in the surf. So far I am happy with the Hooker. There was very little lag or cavitation and white water hook was about the same but these are benefits of the stator vanes and setback feature and not the impeller itself. The ski slid out much better than before and had improved bottom end with no apparent loss in top speed.

I would reccomend this combo in the surf but if you are dropping the bucks on a Mag for freestyle, racing or any performance type riding, I would have to say stick with the Mag impeller for ultimate hookup and thrust.
