This question gets asked a lot, and we all know the standard arguments for and against, but it's tough for a beginner trying to figure out which to buy. The trouble is that there are good arguments on both sides, and whose opinion is the right one?

I figured actions speak louder than words, so I came up with this survey idea. I think the results might be very telling and prove helpful to beginners trying to make a choice.

SXR -cheaper, more power, more range, more fun to ride fast.

SuperJet- lighter, more used performance parts available, fun to ride slow and do tricks or surf ride.

Exactly, but I'm hoping that people's riding histories are a more reliable guide to beginners than people's opinions.

Power and Agility
Superjets are easier to throw around and jump waves with. Sxrs stay more glued to the water and carve easily than a superjet.

Downsides? Superjet is squirrely for handling compared to the sxr. In stock form, the superjet's power is something to be desired(needs a pipe, prop, and intake grate)). Sxr is heavy compared to the superjet and seems almost too stable sometimes for my desire(I prefer a challenge).

Both skis are great, both serve a purpose, but if your a serious freerider and you do any sort of freestyle, get a superjet. If you intend on racing, carving up the lake and going fast, get the sxr.

I had a sxr 1st than bought a 98 sj. It wasn't for me, I than sold it and bought a couple more sxr's
I really like how the sxr handles. To me it's better in every condition.

I had two roundies and one SX-R, then traded to now have one roundie and two SX-Rs.

. . . and a kickass 440. :Banane01:

I like the speed and carving of the SX-R. I prefer having more boat under me.

What do you mean more range? Like riding distance/time? I think not. I have not seen a SXR that gets better mileage than an SJ, even if the SJ was pretty setup and the SXR is stock.

Sorry. I meant it is a lot funner to ride a SXR 40 miles than it is to ride a SuperJet that far. More plush, stable ride is what I was going for.

I think the poll should be edited to say SXR/SXorSXI Not just the SXR.. NOt everybody getting into standups will start on an SXR they start out with comething cheap then sell it and move up.

I started with a SXI rode it for a couple years. Bought a Superjet rode both for a year. Then sold the SXI and will NEVER go back to the Green side. Benn rideing a SJ for 7 years now. The SJ handles better, FEELS to have more power, Super cheap to upgrade.

I agree with you there!! SXR wears me out less in pretty much any kind've riding. 40 miles is a long way on a standup (bring gas!!) :)
