SJ vs FX1?

Well im in the market for a SJ but a fx1 just popped up on craigslist for $1500 and it looks fairly clean.
Ive never ridden an SJ or FX1 but i really want to upgrade from my 550 to a newer SJ.

Should i buy the fx1 or wait for a roundnose?

A lot of people don't like the FX-1's because they're more unstable than SJ's. Since you're coming from a 550, I doubt that would be a problem for you. IMO, I'd be all over the FX-1 if I was in the market for another ski. SJ's are easier to find though.

Yep already said get the fx1 dude quick especially if it is a clean one. after having a 550 you will be amazed besides they build superjet's everyday. Better not wait around because someone is gonna snatch it up quick.

He didnt leave an email address so ill have to call him and its already a bit late tonight. Also im about to leave for work. Ill try to call him tomorrow and see whats up. Do SJ mods fit into the fx1 fine? such as a b pipe. And is it possible to stuff a gp800 in there?

Also if for some reason i didnt like the fx1, could i buy a RN hull and swap the motor/parts over to it?

bpipe needs an fx1 chamber. mani/headpipe will work. comin from a 550 you'll love it but it needs a pump...
1500 is a good price IMO

sounds like youve been lookin for awhile so you might as well snatch it up!

good luck

for a new pump is it just a unbolt old rebolt new or do you have to cut and reglass one in?

Yes, if for some reason you decide you want a RN hull after riding the FX-1 for a season, most of the components will swap right over. Obviously the pole, steering cable, and pump will not swap over but all the expensive bits will.

If you want more info on the pump swap, do a search for FX-1 pump conversion. There are other options that are good but the SJ pump would be the best.

Wow, $1349 for the blowsion kit... sounds like a mod i might avoid for a while.

Ive been at work all night so my mom called while i was showering and got his answering machine. Hopefully ill get a call back later even though ill be asleep all day.

How come i dont see nearly as many people freestyle on fx1s as i do sjs? just because there are so few out there?

You can also do some custom work with a kawi 650 pump and it will probably only cost about a 1/10 of the blowsion kit and that would include the pump.

A lot of people don't like the FX-1's becasue they're too twitchy but the biggest reason is there are no where near as many of them.

I talked to the guy earlier, he says if it wasnt for the scratches on the bottom of the hull (who cares?) he would consider it a nearly mint ski minus the factory graphics.
So my dad stopped by the bank for me and we took our seadoo off its trailer and adjusted the bunks and i should be going up there to look at/buy it tomorrow.
