Super Jet SJ Not running right...any ideas?

Here is a bit of background:
97 SJ with full 62t motor from Yamaha Couch
Bored out Bpipe
Protec C2 Head with 180 PSI Domes
MSD Enhancer
Stock 38's rejette with K&N filters and Outerwears

Ok..Ski was running fantastic the entire summer(running roughly 15 gallons per weekend) until one day I landed it upside down. After this I had to crank quite a bit to get it running. Once it was running it ran awesome....until I went to idle and it just simply died. It would fire back up but didn't want to idle at this point. It finally died and I killed the battery trying to get it started again.

I charged the battery and it fired right back up nearly instantly. I rode it for a bit longer but finally gave up due to similar issues.

It also did a lean runaway out of the water. I attributed this due to a leaky fuel line(colored lines turned brittle). I replaced all of the fuel lines and installed new fuel filter. I also went ahead and pulled the carbs to check them out..found a bit of crud but nothing major. Installed with new gaskets. Reeds looked fine from what I could see and feel.

Now I still have 180 psi(and cylinder walls look like new..just put a new head on so got to check them out), great blue spark and motor is getting fuel(I have a primer installed so have made sure its getting fuel). Ski still wont run worth :):):):). It fires up, sputters and shuts off. The only bad sound it makes is that it seems to crank over fast then make a clunk...then crank over fast and make a clunk. Im thinking the bendix is on its way out from all of the cranking.

So what else could it be? I have never been into the stator on this one and honestly thats about the only thing left that I can think of since everything else has been gone through. Could it maybe have loosened up and turned on its own advancing or retarding the spark? I already pulled the front cover just to make sure nothing was loose in there and everything looked great...of course I couldn't see the stator.

Sorry for the long post here guys...just trying to get this thing ridable for the last big weekend of the summer and its starting seem hopeless:Eyecrazy:

EDIT: Just remembered another symptom...while i was trying to start it in the water it occasionally sorta backfired in the water...it felt like someone was hitting my leg with a hammer.

I reckon chuckie is right
Also when you get upside down like that the fuel in the tank cools rapidly due to the water and due to its cooling it reduces in volume and sucks fuel up the tank breather.

Pull the carbs and go through them, make sure you don't have ANY water in them.

Carbs have been completely gone through(last night) and all fuel lines were replaced. Installed a new filter as well. Carbs were extremely clean.

I haven't checked the vent yet but I can visibly see that there is no fuel in the breather hose since it has clear line. I will check it out and also make sure the vent is good.

Try removing the Enhancer and test with the stock CDI

Good Idea...However I don't have a stock CDI. I do have another Enhancer now that I think of it though. I guess I was sort of ruling out the enhancer due to the fact I have good spark but it could still be screwed up and messing up timing.

Just wanted to throw a huge THANK YOU to Watcon....I went out and swapped around my MSD Enhancers and viola...ski fired right up nearly instantly. I am kicking myself in the butt for not thinking about the CDI first....I definitely need to get a poster up in my garage saying Keep it simple Stupid. Lol

Im not sure if the Enhancer is actually bad or not..there was a bit of moisture inside the ebox so there is a chance there might have just been a bad connection somewhere. I will keep it on the shelf until the next build and test it out.

Time to button up the ski and get it ready for the weekend!!!
