i went to go ride the other day, and i pulled my trailer around, i like to run it on the hose for a minute before i dropp it in the water, but i poped on the lanyard, hit the start button, it turned over a few times, i stopped tp prime it, so it would bust right off, when i hit the start button again it just click, click, like the batery was dead or something, sound like its clicking in the e-box but idk? if you know what could be the deal, i could use some advice thanks

Did you check the battery? Usually when it clicks like that its a sign that your battery is very low. It may have had enough juice to crank the motor over the first few times, then shot the shyt.

Also a good idea to make sure you have a good ground. Make sure both ends of the ground cable are snug and clean. Ground cables are also known to go bad over time as the copper wire gets brittle.

check the + and - battery connections. Check battery voltage also. I used to have an issue with my battery negative cable coming loose off the battery and it would do the same thing. If that doesn't fix it jump both posts on the starter solonoidand see if it fires

Mine was doing it too. Ended up replacing all power cables. They don't last forever.

If it's the ground, a quick fix to get you riding is to run a temporary from the batt to flywheel cover. (it worked for me until I could replace 'em all)

na the battery is fresh, i hit it with a voltage meter, and a load test. i had been assuming conections on my starter, it is a 97 and has been in surf so. would it be easier to pull the motor and do it all, or ?

If your battery is good check your starter solenoid...they click when they are no good or don't have enough juice to activate.

Worth a try to disconnect the red and brown start/stop wires at the box and jump the red and brown wires inside the connector with needle nose pliers, at least you can rule out the start/stop switch that way.

I have had this happen and it was the bendix. Take off the flywheel cover and tap the bendix, if any water got in there it can cause enough surface rust to keep a perfectly fine bendix from engaging correctly. Let it dry out or spry some WD40 in there and try to fire it.

its not the bendix, its the lack of voltage... check grounding, check cables, check starter solenoid in ebx. ust to be on teh safe side you can take out the starter and check it against a battery.

when excactly what he described happened to me and I did excactly what I said it fixed it... Could very well be lack of voltage but it could also be what happened to me, take the 30 seconds and see if you have any water in your flywheel cover and if not check it off the list of things it could be.

Bad connections.

I know... It's a PITA to get at the starter connections, no matter what pipe you have. It's do-able without pulling the motor.

As I said in a previous post....run a temp ground. If it cranks...there ya go. If not, check pos connections (a bit tougher)
I pulled my chamber but not the headpipe. It was still tough. But worth doing b4 digging into the e-box.

Diagnose b4 re-build.

Bendix is possible, but not likely if the click is coming from the e-box.
Solenoid is possible, but doesn't go bad very often.

Most likely, most common, most abused by salt......connections.

If you have a charger...Charge the battery.
I have an AGM battery that will show me darn near 13 volts when it's at 5% of charge.

Cranking amps matter!

The battery, as others have stated, could cause this as well.

it is possible to reomove the starter without touching the pipe at all. Remove fuel tank. ubolt two bolts holding starter, take a hammer and a flat scredriver and give it a punch from the front (flywheel side) - it will come out...patience makes wonders....but I still bet some of my money on the low voltage issue, not starter..

i ended up pullin the motor out anyway, but i jump the wires still didnt work, put a new silenoid in it, batter good, i took the starter out, and left the positive wire hooked up to it, and would hold the starter and hold the ground and it would turrn over but not by my start/stop swith but by jumpin the positve wires at the silenoid with a srewdriver, then i hooked up the start/stop swith and now it wont even make the silenoid click like before??? also my starter is about to rust to pieces, surprised it spun, but could it shot and just not good enough to engage out and start the ski???

The ground was gone, if you pulled the starter. Usually the main ground is on a starter mounting bolt. The e-box would not work.

pretty much just so it will crank right up when i get to the launch, and im not having to spray something in the carbs to bust it off, other than that no particular reason
