Sj hull weight stock??

Please, what is the sock weight of a hull and then topdeck or together of a superjet roudnose...????

The lightest hull ive come across was xft 22kg/55pounds...lightest thinest hull?

I pondereing waht is better the weight reduction or the power adding to a big bore 701 to power to weight ratio.... :banghead:

Thanx in advance!

You can have the lightest hull available, with a 10mm stroker, and if you don't have the skillz, it's a waste.

Skillz is where it's at, not necessarily the weight or power.

I dare say if you gave Malone a stock freestyle ski, he would still kick all our arses. The boy has skillz!:hail:

Just compare weight/power.

Let's say a stock SJ is 310lbs/73hp, that's 4.25lbs/hp.

Now, make it a strong 701 with freestyle stuff, still 310lbs/105hp, that's 2.95lbs/hp. Much better.

The next step would be big bore or light hull.
Big bore: I'll guess 115hp, so 310/115 is 2.70lbs/hp.
Light hull: I'll guess 30lbs lighter, so 280/105 is 2.67lbs/hp.
In that circumstance, the light hull is better, but just slightly.
Now, going Lamey or stroker to get up to 130hp gives 2.38lbs/hp which is dramatically better and for probably about the same cost as the light hull would cost.

lbs/hp is what gives you acceleration, although a lighter ski might make it easier to flick around.

As I've heard Magoo, Waterfreak and others say...

Most of the boats riders have are over-powered for their skillz.

IMO, that is as big a hinderance as not enough power.

(But, Darin is totally coorect on the HP/Weight)

Thank you very much!!! This has bn consuming my mind... my ski is in for a bigbore kit and im coming from stock,so I can wait for the diffs and Il report back asap...thanx again especially SuperJett, dankie.

X2...I wish I had spent more time & effort last year improving my skills instead of improving my boat.

That said, I like my improved SJ.

Don't forget most of us could stand to lose some weight off our bodies, and that's FREE. I have been slowly working my way back down to 180 which is where I like to be. FREE HP!!!!

also depends on your riding, if your talking trick skills, i should be back on my 650 as that would be enough, but i really enjoy just being able to grab the throttle and jump out of the water. 650 doesnt get me there.

on the subject of having an overpowered ski for your skills... here are my thoughts...
it is much worse to have an underpowered ski, ive ridden 550s 650s 750s 800s 701s 760s, some stock, some modded... Im in the first stages of a flatwater BR and I am glad that I have a powerful ski to pull me out of the water, it makes it much easier IMO... granted, its not necessary to have tons of power and a light hull but to a certain extent "it helps"
XFT now has a flatwater backflip inspired hull (the design of stern is rounded and shaped way different) that weighs 48.5 pounds... then you put a 150 hp magoo monster in it, I think that it would only hinder your learning of new tricks because it would take some getting used to... A stock SJ hull with a mildly ported 701, good prop, msd enhancer, ada head, and a b pipe is the perfect setup (IMO) for learning flatwater tricks... surf, a stock hull will do the trick... <--- pun intended
