My brothers superjet has been sitting outside for 6 months, wasn't winterrized (there wasn't any water in the motor though) or anything. The electrical has all been gone through and cleaned up. What else should we check? Should I pull the cylinder off and check the crank? If so what for?

Kinda just need to know what all has to be checked over before we bring it down to FL to ride for a week.

Thanks,
Trevor

pull the plugs out turn the motor over by hand if all feels smooth drain all the gas you can refill and then try starting. most likley the carbs are gummed up or gaskets dried up. i would ride for at least an hour befor hauling it to ride in florida..

ps if it blows up in florida :frown:and you are looking to get rid of it pm me:Banane19:

You shouldnt have to worry about much after only 6 months time .The gas is probably still good but if you can easliy replace that then do it .

If it runs like ******** you might have to take the carbs apart and clean or rebuld them .

I always use fuel stabil when it gets anywhere near winter so my carbs don't get gummed up and I can use the same gas .I would suggest you get your brother some .

Run it on the hose for a good half hour and restrict the water so it comes up to temp. I would pull fuel filters and look for any crap in them after you run it. Make sure sure it idles fine and pull the flame arrestors and make sure when your blipping the throttle its not spitting sparatic gobs of fuel. Also run the hose at full pressure and check for leaks while running then check for wet (water) plugs. Check the throttle linkage for binding. Make sure it will run with the hood on if you have an external flush. Check battery connections and ground with a multi meter. Top off/charge the battery. Fill the hull with water and make sure nothing leaks especialy the midshaft.

Thats all I can think of for now. These are all things others or myself forgot to do and have led to problems.

Yes but 6 months in Minesota's winter. I don't want to be all negative but with the severe temperatures you see up there, you may be in for a real treat if anything froze in the major components...
Hopefully it will spit sputter and come right back to life.

K I'll do what you guys said. the person that did the electrical for him fired it up, dunno how long he ran it but I know it starts.

Just a little worried because there was some nasty weather this winter (-20 to -30's) a couple times.

Thanks for the help!
