SJ down on power

:banghead: Well, my ski ran great all weekend, and I put some good hours on her.:biggthumpup: Then come Monday I go and take it out, and the thing is almost brapless!:bigeyes: It starts right up no problem, and seems to rev good out of te water with no load. The ski is just barely able to get up on a plane in the water, and top speed is way low too. Last year my B1 did the same thing when I broke a reed pedal.

It suck because it did not happen while I was out riding it, and when I was flushing it, everything seemed normal, it still runs great out of the water, its when under a load it has no power.

So far I have changed the plugs.
Inspected the reeds wich look good.
It runs off of either cylinder when I pull plug wires.
I pulled the head and checked the O-rings. looked good
Cylinders are like new, but I dont have a compression guage, starts up first bump though.

Do you think It could be a problem with the MSD enhancer?

Sound like cavitation? If it seems to be fine out of the water, inspect your jet line. Pump shoe, impeller, etc. I'd probably pull the pump and inspect the driveshaft splines before messing with swapping in a cdi.

^^^^^No, its not cavitation for sure. The impeller is not spinning fast anough, it is deffinetly a issue of being under power. It is mad Boggy.

Anyone one else got any ideas? What happens when a MSD enhancer takes a shiot? Everything else has checked out. No air leeks, everything seems good. Is there something I am forgetting????????? I realy dont think it is a problem with the carbs, it ran like a top for the past 2 weeks.

Hi you realy need to do a compression check, the ski can still run out the water under no load with poor compression.

check your spark wires and plugs, awile back i was having the same tihing, turned out to be a loos wire in the coil. you may be only running on one cylender?

cool, thanks guys! I know I am Hitting on both cylinders, I though for sure it was just a broken reed, or a bad O-ring. Doesnt seem to be the case though.

possibly a stuck open needle and seat. does it sound rich and smoke a lot?

^^^^^You know what, the back cylinder did seem to have alot of oil residue like it was not burning, but then it still ran off of just that cylinder. I will check the needle and seat for sure.

Out of the water it sounds crisp and smooth. In the water it is a total turd! Hardly get on plane, and has no acceleration or top speed anywhere.

^^^Will do! It is single cooling though. Compression guage it is.

^^^^^I know, it is not ported though, and it was set up for dual cooling before, i guess I will do that up too why I am at it. There is no scoring or scuffs on the sleeves, I think I am good there.
