SJ cutting out on topend

I have been out running my 98 SJ with b pipe, JPC port job, ada head 175psi, msa enhancer, 44sbn blackjacks, jetnetics flywheel, v force reeds. It will run great until I keep her open for a bit. Than on the big end it dies until I let off the gas. Than it goes again. I do sometimes get a bog on the bottom end also. So I start playing with the topend fuel screw. That really did not make anything any better. By the way the plugs look perfect. So I start testing the coil and can't get anything to read. Well i am not much for electrical my brother is though. I remember that I put new msd spark plug caps on it. Well I just took a pair of pliers and crimped them over the wires. I did not cut the wires back and crimp them. So my brother cut the wires back and sodered the terminals on the plug wires. Do you think this was my problem with the cutting out on the big end? I am going to the river tonight to test it again.

The top screw is set at half turn out. That is what Jetworks told me to do. if I go 3/4 to half it is too rich. My fuel lines and filter are new. I guess I can check the fuel petcock. But it does it on both on and reserve.

Where is your adjuster right now at 1/2 or 3/4? You said 3/4 is too rich on top but if it's too rich on top then you wouldnt be cutting out.

I would say its your jetting. If it was because of reserve, once it started sputtering, its out of fuel and not going to run reliable at any rpm.

Mine is currently doing this to me,it will restart,but wont take throttle for a while. It only happens after wot runs. I thought mixture was of on top,but plugs look great,compression is still good.165 on a stock ski,ski is about 6 months old. So I just have to get my lazy butt out there and pull the carbs and check the internal filters. I have to rejet any way due to the new Bpipe I am borrowing. Im suspecting its gonna be clogged.

Also I need to get a new coupling for the b pipe and a gasket for the head pipe to manifold,who do yall recomend for ordering parts.


by the way it has a full tank :biggthumpup:
