So you put a rod holder in back with the foam behind the bulkhead? I dont see how you could get the one-way to work all contianed in the engine compartment. If you did it in the foam, how did you attach the rod holer to the rest of the exhaust system? I considered doing this too, but I cant weld, and I dont want anything rubber in the foam because it may rot later.

The rod holders are almost at the back of the ski. I cut them short and used a couple of elbows that I cut from radiator hoses to connect from the pvc to the rod holder. I double clamped everything and foamed back around it. It may eventually rot someday, but if I get half the life that a radiator hose gives you in a car, then I'm happy. After I clamped everthing, I smeared some adhesive all around the joint so I'm pretty sure it isn't going anywhere. What I did is different from what you are talking about, but I was just mainly telling you that rod holders do work and they look pretty good.

I figured I'd save some money, and since I have the stock piece, I'll just have someone I know with a pipe bender put a bend in it for me so I can use that. I'm planing on painting the bottom section there black (very bottom white for visibility/scratch hiding) so dirty exhaust wont be a problem.

I'm going stock waterbox, and I'll place it where it looks best, not completely sure where yet. I figure the black part of the ski there will mask the exhaust so its almost not visible, especially on the shore the the chines covering it up.
