Single Carb 701

I was wondering what are the big advantages of having 2 carbs compared to 1 on the 701 motor.
Im looking at a 97 RN with 1 carb. I would use the search forum but Iam at work and dont have time any help will be great!

That roundnose you're looking at has a "61 x" motor vs the stock "61 x 62t". The cylinders are the same on both engines but the crankcase configurations are different. The 61x has a vertical style draft versus the 61x62t's horizontal setup. It's not a huge deal to tell you the truth. The 61x62t stock has a bit more responsiveness/ power and it also responds better to modifications in my experience. I think that is one of the reasons the ski is listed at 2500 vs 3000. A 61x short block = ~ 400-500$ Vs 61x/62t 650-850 +.

Either way fun ski and decent price with plenty of potential in my opinion.

Single carbs rock on 61x61x, case porting on 61x supports a single much better than duals, I run a single 46 on a built 61x and its an arm jerker and runs wot with no issues

This is what I wanna hear. My ported 701 is a beast now. Putting my 46 back on in a couple months. This engine will be transferred to a AM hull in the winter and can't wait to see what it can do in a lighter more manuerable hull!

This^ According to groupk's website you are going to lose 1-2mph off the top end with the single 61x cases vs the dual 62t cases. The biggest downside is if you decide you want to big bore the cylinders to 771+ you will need the 62t cases for the extra air flow.

Don't disagree that the 62t case with duals is better setup than 61x but if a guy already has a 61x stay with it, my boat is stock bore with a freestyle port job single fullspec46 on wetjet intake, runs neck and neck with "maxed out" limited sxr800 and is quicker out of the hole and top speed than a stock 1100sxr
