Super Jet Single aftermarket carb. on a newer superjet

Novi-Tec Single S48XRF-FS

I have seen a few of these aftermarket single carbs for sale lately on here and was wondering why you would want to put a single carb on instead of double carbs? I have a 2007 superjet that has a completely stock motor and am looking to do some upgrades in the near future.

There is a few topics on this already

Single Carb
Pros:
- Less places for water intrusion in surf
- More low end - up for debate
- A/m carbs more responsive in general
- Bigger carbs
- Easy to tune
- Less moving parts/maintence
- Easy to work on/around

Cons:
- Expensive
- Manifold expensive
- Can be hard to figure out proper jetting/adjustment
- Stock 38's on a stock motor are hard to beat
- Stock 38's are good for most setups already
- You cant keep OEM dual flame arrestor - you will have to buy a new one
- Did I mention stock 38's are still good for your setup?

it may not be your best option to upgrade your stock motor. you will be able to make more power by installing an aftermarket head or pipe. although, spending the money on one expensive 48mm carb means you are half way to having two expensive 48mm carbs. thats the way i look at it, im currently running one expensive 48mm carb.

Most riders that switch to a single carb are not doing so to gain power. Most are surf riders who are looking for simplicity. When you are encountering ignition issues/water in fuel issues compounded by salt water it is much easier to trouble shoot one carb than two. There is also more room to work in the ski. When riding bigger waves, losing a few hp is not a concern.
