Should I replace this wear ring? (Photos)

Hey!
Wanted to come on here and ask if you guys think I should replace the wear ring on my squarenose before I go ahead and put it all back together. I really don't like taking the pump off mid season and have no problem picking up a new OEM wear ring if its something ill have to do in the future anyway. Here's some pics! (there are no deep gouges, only the small scrapes that are uniformly around the prop)

Thanks!
-Ben

If there are no high spots and the clearance is within spec I would leave it be. Galvanic corrosion between the two dissimilar metals (the alloy housing and the stainless liner) causes swelling and renders the part unusable. Replacement with an all-stainless unit is recommended. If on a budget, replacement with an alloy unit with a ‘plastic’ liner is an option.

this ring was used in salt water but will now be used in a freshwater lake without sand. Should I be concerned about the galvanic corrosion? Would it be overkill or maybe a smart decision to throw a new ring on it? I haven’t had the chance to measure it yet but I think it is probably within spec.

If it’s in spec and spins nice I’d run it until it became a issue but if you have the beans laying around for a new stainless one it wouldn’t hurt to slap it on. A 12pt piece of card stock is roughly .3mm if you don’t have a feeler gauge in that size.

Great advice, thank you!
