Always nice to get the sheet, then you will have scraps for random stuff. Turf is like the duct tape of the jet ski world. something rubs? space it with turf. something too hot? protect it with turf. something need more little diamonds? turf.

have you turf'd footwells before? I take it no if your asking.. a kit usually makes the first time a bit easier to piece together.. One method I like is taking some cardboard and softening it up and bending it into the shapes you need to make a kit and then cutting the turf to match..

If you go with a sheet, make templates like jmike said. We used 2"masking tape and taped the whole tray one side at a time, then peeled it off and stuck it to the turf sheet to cut. Cut a little big all the way around and trim the excess off, plus allows to stretch with heat gun and not tear. Good luck!

People stress out too much over turf. Get a sheet. For the bottom, make a template. I never make templates for the sides. Do them first. Just cut a piece big enough to cover the area you're trying to turf, then trim away the excess. Use alot of heat and wrap the turf inside the hold as far as you can get it. Then cut smaller pieces to fill in the gaps.

Just take your time, do some basic measurments, give the glue time to set before you stick it down, use alot of heat, and turf is nothing to worry about. I think the skis that are done with sheets end up looking much better than the kits.
