Drill It , It is better to do than buy an aftermarket WB for it for the $$ and the Gain. You gain just as much power if not more and its isn't quite as loud. I drilled my last one and loved it and am planning on drilling my project's box tonight and I'm running a Factory B pipe with it.

jp can you give me some instructions?
There are two plates of stainless inside of the waterbox, You will need a long drill bit 1/2'' is the prefered by most. If you look in the bottom port of water box this is the one you must drill thru. Plan it out for anywhere from 4 to 7 holes evenly spaced (the more the better flow) do not drill one giant hole you dont want to completely unrestrict it. Drill slow and use a cutting fluid to keep your bit nice and sharp. Make sure and wash the box out good when your done you wouldn't want to step on those shavings on the beach. Lowes sells the long bits along with most other Hardware stores. You might spend $25 if you don't have a bit already.

o Like pictured or like the link in my last post works.

You will find new power and a little more tone. Good luck

it didnt make mine much louder when I did it, you are not removing the baffels of the WB, just making it less restrictive by punching the holes in it. You will notice the bottom end punch, and if you dry out your exhaust, it will be much better. DO IT!

kevbo, you dont think it improves? i saw that you posted something like that on another thread.

It is all in your head. Get a pipe and a good impeller, that will make a measureable difference. Everyone thinks louder is faster, even when its not. Now go drill your box.

Where did you read that? Because it couldn't be more wrong.

It very little work for a huge gain.
A drilled stock box makes more power than any open aftermarket box like a west cost or Coffman and it isn't as loud.

Drill it you will be happy.

Also all the good X2 info is on pwctoday.com theX is way more yami guys.

I just got the water box out of my new to me 1990 x2 and I see it already has one hole in it, is 1 hole factory?

I'm assuming I should drill a few more holes?

I'll see if I can post a pic with my phone

Something is wrong with that waterbox the plate w the hole should be much more recessed inside the box
