Other shop cart plans please

Do y'all think pvc will be too slick of a surface for the ski to rest on? I do have to push my ski on and off from my cart to my trailer though.
Thanks for all the help!!

PVC is excellent as a bunk covering but I wouldn't use it as the primary structure on the stand. I used a 2" pvc pipe to cover the wooden bunks on my dock. Cut the pipe in half and countersunk the screws. It creates a nice curved surface for the hull instead of the hard corners on 2x4's. It also is nicer on your paint than cheap carpet. The pvc is slick so it's easy to slide the ski on and off but it's a little sticky at first so it stays in place. For reference, the bunks on my dock are at roughly a 20-25° angle and they are sticky enough to hold the ski in place even when wet. When I want to take the ski off though, all I have to do is give the ski a little push or pick up one side for a split second and it continues sliding down into the water.

I made mine YEARS ago I desgined for the super jet and have had EVERYTHING from a SJ to RXT on there and it had stood the test of time I have even sat on them with a GRP on the stand. mine were not made out of wood I welded unstrut (free from work) together and welded some wheels from harbor frieght on the bottom. DONT make it out of PVC I know a few guys on the Greehulk site that did and there skis wond up on the shop floor.

Well I really appriciate all the help guys!!! If I knew how to put pics from my phone on here I would but I have no clue lol I'm 19 I probably should haha well I guess I will just try to describe it. Start out with a 2' by 4' 1/2" sheet of plywood then two 4' 2x4's running length wise under on the outter edges, 2 3' 2x4's width wise at each end with 3" casters at the corners. Now on top of the plywood spaced evenly from the middle at 1' apart are two rows running length wise of 8" tall 2x4's with a 4' 2x4 on top of each row. Then bolted on some 1.5" (had it lying around, 2" prefered) pvc to the top of the 2x4's!!! Hope that wasn't too confusing!!! Lol

Yep, got a little area underneath to place small parts and tools!!! Not super pumped on the height though, too tall to sit on my pneumatic roll around seat and too short to stand up to work on it :( but it had to be that height so I could push it on and off my trailer by myself so it'll do. Lol

The most important part of your statement " but it had to be that height so I could push it on and off my trailer by myself so it'll do."

I like the plywood idea. In case you like to go the brute force route with 2x6s, here's one that should probably carry an RXT but works great for my '92 SJ...27" high so I can easily transfer to/from my hitch hauler.
