As a reply in another thread I had posted the following but thought it might be fun to hear some other peoples stories about shipping. At the bottom is one the Military Veterans will appreciate.
Let me tell you recent story about Parcel Post. I sent my parents a photo coffee cup from the Jersey Rager photos. I sent it November 2nd from Virginia Beach to New Hampshire. The difference in cost between Priority and PP was a dime. The clerk said it would make it to NH on the following Monday either way so I chose the lesser cost. They never received the cup after more than 30 days so I decided to order another one and have it drop shipped directly to them. Two days later, they thank me for the cup. I know it takes a couple weeks from the time you place the order to the time it is received so I ask them to confirm where the cup came from. It was the one I has sent 5 weeks prior. They'll enjoy having two cups.
Lesson learned: As posted earlier, you have no tracking with Parcel Post. You are at the mercy of the Post Office with no recourse if it is lost. Parcel Post is just not worth it even for short distances. Five weeks from the Mid-Atlantic to New England. Please never ship anything to me PP, I'll gladly pay the extra for traceable shipping.
Another one was while on a deployment overseas, we would get Christmas packages 6-8 months into the next year. One of the guys in my unit received a "care package" sent by his parents almost 18 months after it was sent.:woot:
Tell your strange or funny shipping story.
