Sheared flywheel keyway

Well, I'm in the market for a flywheel it seems. Progressivly the timing went out of tune due to the shearing of the woodruff key for the flywheel to crank. The crank keyway is ok, but the flywheel needs replaced.

Anybody have any suggestions on which route to take?

Dealer OEM is $365 for a 62t flywheel!!!

Remember that the woodruff key is only for alignment, it does not hold the flywheel from slipping. The tapered shaft is what holds it if the shaft & flywheel surfaces are mating properly. You need to be sure and torque the flywheel bolt properly and you should not have any problems.

Used stock flywheels can be had easily for under $75 used. I don't know what the going rate on stock lightened flywheels is but it's way less than $365. Heck at that price, you could almost buy a new lightweight aluminum flywheel.

i def saw a couple 62T oem flywheels on ebay yesterday. i think one of them was buy it now for under $100.

I did the same thing with my woodruff key a month ago, make sure to torque that bolt down. I used 80 ft-lbs. and not problems now.

Bolt and go... Can't hurt to check timing but I personally wouldn't do it with stock electrics. Maybe double check with an aftermarket flywheel though. I wouldn't crank it all the way to 80 ft-lbs myself. Manual says 50 and anything past 70 is really hard to do on the engine and begs for bloody knuckles.
