Super Jet Setting up a super jet

Hi can someone point me in the right direction please , i have a 2010 SJ the only mod is a Factor B pipe , i want to set it up for freestyle .
im new to this been racing motorbikes for years so no Foook all about setting up ski's
if some can give me a list of mods that i need to do and what parts to order , so i can get it right the first time and not waste time and money .

i have been reading through the site and there is loads of info but like i said im new to this and half the parts people talk about i dont even know what they are , so any help would be great thanks .

Mill the head or get a higher compression head, helps bottom end.
Make sure jetted for the B-pipe.
BIGGEST thing on a stock ski is the impeller. Pretty sure they still use aluminum impellers, getting a good stainless impeller, pitched for low-end will help.
Can modify CDI if you find you are hitting the rev limiter (or get an MSD enhancer).

Lowered hood helps a lot with hood tricks, and lowered hood/pole helps overall in freestyle. Some people shorten the stock pole, that can help and is free (should be posts on here with the "how-to").

Footholds help a lot. Not too expensive and not hard to put in if you have some basic fiberglassing skills.

BILGE PUMPS!!! Get at least one or two 500 gph bilge pumps. Scuppers can help also (not a bad idea to put in while doing footholds as it can give you better acess inside the tray sides). Keep the stock siphon unless you get a scupper (in case the pumps fail).

Those are the basics. Then you start looking at motor mods: bore, porting etc.

that covers a lot of it, unless you want to hack up your hull and take a few inches out of the bottom.

a D-cut ride plate is a free mod. most people just cut a semi circle out of the rear of the ride plate. Causes the nose to ride a bit higher, better for arial tricks.

you also have the cheap peace of mind mods like a limiting rope, prevents the handle pole from over extending. Hood straps prevents the hood from coming off while in the surf. and Engine keepers, (blowsion kenny keepers) keep the motor in place during big air like surf riding. Helps keep motor mounts in tact.

Good luck.

the 2010 Superjet comes stock with a decent stainless impeller, so that is not an immediately required mod anymore.

just keep reading, and in a few months you'll know what all the terms are the everyone throws around. You'll be surprised how quickly you pick it up.

If you have the Factory Pipe on there, then make sure you've done the carburetor changes (jets, etc) as instructed by Factory. On the "new" Superjets I think that means your need to modify the carbs so that you can adjust the hi / lo adjusters too...from what I understand they are now capped off to prevent adjustment.

Definitely get the electric bilge pumps, but skip the scupper valves in my opinion.

For freestyle you also want to invest in handling mods, probably even before engine mods. Look into footholds, intake grates and ride plates (the D-cut of the stock plate is an option as already mentioned). You'll also have to modify the 2010 to get more steering out of it...the design changed in '08 I think and people have mentioned having a hard time getting sharp enough steering without doing some mods.

Hope that helps...

Thanks for all your help guys , i also got a mail back Rick Roy he sent back a list of mods and it was mostly on set up and handling mods

so i think ill start with

shorter hand pole set up
Stearing system fat
Pole pad
straight bars ,
ride plate
bilge pump
foot holds
rubber deck

i think that and a few of the small ones like the limiting rope and hood straps and it should be ok for now
ill try it like this first then start on the engine Hp mods

cheers again
