Just going to be used for online bill paying, doing my taxes, running some invoicing software and surfing the web. No gaming or streaming or netflixing (a new verb) or anything like that. Only caveat is I'd like a decent sized screen whithout having to use a docking station and a separate monitor, so a 14" or whatever is not going to cut it because my eyes suck.

Appreciate any input.

I actually bought a ACER chromebook or something of the sorts for like 145 bucks last year that had a 15" inch monitor that worked great for all of those purposes. I think they also had options for a bigger screen but it was super lightweight and the battery lasted forever. Only issue I didn't like is it didn't have a DVD drive so I couldn't load my Sticker cutting software onto it so I returned it.

Just a option

I've had really good luck buying refurbished computers from Newegg and Amazon. I've bought 4 or 5 and never had to return one, but I'm not super picky about cosmetics as long as it works right.

"typically" when you go up in size screen the performance component also increase b/c there is more room in the frame to add bigger stuff. Not alleyways the case thou. What is your budget?

Keep an eye on slickdeals.net for a 17" screen laptop. Any new laptop will do what you want it to do, so just look at price / brand / screen and make your choice. PS: good luck with windows 10

Thanks. My budget is 'cheap'. I honestly am looking for a refurb under $200. I don't think I'll land a 17" at that price point, but I am ok with a 15.6 which is the size of my work computer.(Of course in the office I run it with dual 22" screens)

Yeah, and Windows 10...... F That!! They haven't had a decent operating system since XP in my opinion, at least for what I do.
