Season Ender

Managed to suck up part of a tow strap in the chocolate waters of the Genesee River. Buckle on the strap split the intake grate then ate away at the hull. Unfortunately, building an addition so wont be able to start making repairs until spring.

It didn't take very long. I thought I sucked up a weed or something at first because they are doing remediation to sections of the wetlands upriver. Thought it cleared but that was the part of the strap that was cut. Then a few seconds later I heard a pop and the ski vibrated but by the time I shut it off the damage was done. Seems the fibers from the cut strap got wedged into the nose cone allowing the strap to wrap itself around the driveshaft without impeding the impeller until the strap wound up to the buckle. At that point, the intake snapped allowing the buckle to spin cutting into the hull.

Did this yesterday with the riding mower. Ran over one of those screw in stakes you can use to tie a trampoline down. took apart rest of trampoline, had a few tubes along the fence, picked them up and went to cut the grass right where they were, thought I had put the stakes in my shop months ago. Stopped the blades in 3 seconds flat, had to remove the deck to get it un wedged.
