Scored pistons

So my pistons and cylinders got scored up , it's at a local shop right now getting bored out and new pistons , just wondering if it's going to be an on going issue with pistons and if it can be prevented ,it has pods on it , shop told me it got water in it , has anyone else running pods had this issue before ?

My SXi stays really dry on the inside, usually just a little moisture on the bottom after a day of riding. How much water do you get in the engine bay? I wouldnt think you should have any issues with those flame arrestors in normal circumstance.

Not really much , most that's bin in it was just enough that the pump could grab and pump out , I haven't ridding it to much was at a like for about 10 days last year and haven't ran it it yet this year , so im wondering if it was from the previous owner
