SBT's pricing is off?

why is it that SBT sells the 61X cylinder exchange for 295 but then they have the 701SJ for 475? I thought the 701SJ cylinders were the same as the 701X motors?

Can anyone explain this?

And does anyone know why their pricing on 61X motors is so much cheaper then 62T based motors? What is more expensive about it? I almost get the feeling they charge different prices for the more common 701 motor to make more money, when the cost per rebuild is nearly the same. What part prices would justify these cost differences? The rebuilds all involve pretty much the same parts no?

I mean, the pistons and crank cost exactly the same (which brings up another point, why is there a 40 dollar price difference on pistons if they are exactly the same??? Their single piston sales would lead you to believe this, as they dont have a 701T and 701X designation for pistons, and I always thought a 701 piston is a 701 piston), what else do they have to do to the cylinder to make it cost more? This one really bothers me. I want them to cost 300 for all not 300 for some and 500 for others.

Yea but still, they dont buy any of the parts. Im just pissed that for the same exact service, I can get a 61X motor a LOT cheaper, about the price of a topend. I swear, Im keeping a set of 61X cases around, because when I need a new motor, Ill slap those on and save 250 bucks, then throw the 62T's on.

I cant believe I never noticed this before. Im never sending in a 62T cased motor again. 61X then swapout all the way!

In fact, even buying a set of 61X cases and doing that will still save me 200 or more, because Ill buy the :):):):)tiest looking 61X cases I can find.

I still dont get why they market the SJ topend as an extra 200 bucks!!! Its a 61X cylinder. Im sending mine in as a 61X not an SJ cylinder. Thats bull:):):):) I think they know that SJ's are the most common user of 701s so they say "well they are different... so give us an extra 200" its the same damn thing!

The cost of materials isn't the sole deciding factor in price.
Demand plays a large part in the final price.

You would be mistaken to think that just because the materials cost less, the motor should be cheaper.
If the demand for them is higher, if the market will bear a higher price, the price will be higher.
