I have rebuilt a bn but I have never opened up a sbn. Is there anything I should do or not do while I am doing this. I pulled the carbs this afternoon and I will be drilling out the chokes next for a primer. I am waiting on the rebuild kits to get here.

I have to ask this but, why are you putting a primer on a Seadoo,if the carbs are right it cranks almost immediately.

the primer is handy to have, even if its not required.

Peter, make sure you have GOOD and correctly sized screwdrivers in hope of getting those screws out of the carb without stripping them.

they are really simple actually, only a few parts.
the pop spring and needle arm, and check valve over the jets are really the only potential problem areas.

use carb cleaner and make sure all passages are clean and clear, remove the screen on the pump side and clean it out.

as long as your needle and seats are leaky, and the diapraghm isnt ruptured, you really only need to clean it out, and re-assemble.

new parts are rarely required to get one working correctly again.

I usually use Berryman b12,as stated earlier remove all rubber parts it will swell them ,also wear eye protection, that stuff is bad news if it gets into your eyes.Contact cleaner will not melt through the old dried up gas residue it is not strong enough Berryman B12 melts through it like buttahhhhhhhh.

thanks Matt

I Have an impact screw driver that I used with my old bn carb and it fit those screws perfectly so hopefully it will work for these sbn's. I figured that if I am taking these apart any ways I might was well rebuild them. I would rather spend 65 now and not miss any more prime riding time than I have to. Hopefully this will take care of my problem. I also have a fuel line kit so I might stick that on there too since I am blowing everything out any ways.

Wedo- why do you think this is a seadoo? this is 100% superjetyness. My ski actually starts great. Right now I have a choke with no cable. I pull the hood right before I launch and push the choke down and then I am good to all day. But I figure If I am going to do a primer now is the time to do it.

Ive used the cheapest carb cleaner I can find for years... walmart, autozone, Oreillys, $2 per can, Ive never had it swell, dissolve, or do anything else to any soft parts inside the carb.

I wouldnt soak anything but metal in carb cleaner.

But for blowing it out, and general use as a fast flashing solvent it has worked flawlessly for me.

Ill PM my number if you want Peter, Ill take a carb apart and follow you thru step by step if you think you need it.

I think you can handle it though.

just dont get that stuff in your eye, it stings.
