Sand under SN engine mounts

The more I dig on this ski, the more I think its been abused, and maybe even sunk at some point.

While tearing down to clean and get ready for a 701 swap, I pulled the engine mounts since a couple were broken. I found quite a bit of sand under each of them. The holes under the mounts were probably about half full.

Is this just from ocean riding? Should I fill those holes with epoxy or something else, or just leave them alone? I'm learning all this stuff as I go, and its overwhelming at times, but I'm really looking forward to the finished product. I might do a build thread unless the 701 swap has been beat to death in the build threads.

I have gotten sand under the motor mounts hundreds of times! Although sand and debris can get down there, i wouldn't fill it with epoxy, that would add a lot of weight. On my skis, I usually silicone around the motor mounts to make sure a bunch of sand doesnt get down there, but usually if you flush your ski well, sand doesn't get down there.

Thanks. I didn't know if this was a common thing or not. I'm just a little wary about this ski knowing the garbage I was fed when I bought it.

you mean someone forgot to disclose the fact the ski was possibly sank at one time?:eek2:
naaaahhh,couldn't be!skis rarely sink:scratchchin:
i never sank but got plenty of sand in my undies:icon16:
