Ruptured Eardrum.......again

yeah the sixonesix is good? what do you guys think is the best Full face mask for skiing money not an option, ear protection being a big emphasis. And yeah were you wearing earplugs? Just wear any ear plugs.

nope no earplugs. if you have non-vented earplugs, they won't help. when you put them in, they create an air pocket between the plug and your eardrum. then, if you hit hard enough, the ear plug forces that air pocket through your eardrum.

I ruptured my ear drum. Now I ride with a full face sixsixone mountian bike helmet. So far so good. Those failed roll attempts really can smack the ear! Sorry to hear you did it again.

I've never heard of anyone rupturing an ear drum with ear plugs in. Wear the silicone swimmers plugs. Whenever I don't wear a helmet I have those in and they work great.

yeah, I agree... it may be able to happen, but it would be quite rare

oh yea earplugs definately reduce the chance of it happening, but it would still happen if you hit very very hard. (by that time you've probably got other problems too).

i rode lake michigan for 5 hours today with a full face and no plugs and got the ear crazy wet, so hopefully the doc isn't too mad at me. :frown:
