running straight pump gas?

Is it possible to run straight pump gas in a two stroke engine? I keep seeing it come up and it has me wondering what is lubricating the piston? Is there still an oil mix involved?:slap:

I just bought an x-2 and he said it ran fine on just pump gas. its got 185psi in each chamber....

Whenever they say 'pump gas', they mean the gas you get at any pump.

Racing gas is not at every pump.

And that's not saying what quality of gas (ie premium vs regular unleaded).

U should ask him if he ran premium.

yeah... what they said...

and while we're on the topic of gas... when you go to a pump that has one nozzle for 3 grades of fuel does it pump the previously selected grade for a second or 2 before the line is filled with the higher octane or does it have a way to go right to the higher octane... I figure you get a bit of whatever was previously pumped... just something I was thinking about one day... not that it would matter if you're filling a 5 gallon jug anyways...

not sure entirely, I was always under the impression that it had 2 separate hoses inside, one for low, one for high, and for midgrade they just mixed them. I could be wrong htough, and probably am lol

I will say this, On my Street bike a Buell S-1 that is running higher than stock compression. It requires 93 octane when air temps are below 80-85° and 50/50 mix 93/100 octane when it's hotter. My bike also only has a 3gal tank and hits reserve at 2.5 (when I fill-up).

I cannot use a single nozzle pump to fill-up. I always experience detonation when I do. I think that you do get some of whatever was pumped last. Now some stations may have different single nozzle pumps designs, that have individual lines for low and High octane fuel, but how would you ever easily identify if they do?
