my one friend has been running 87 octane in his ski with no problems, all stock 2003
he is a light weight too, but again, no problems and works great for him
if i am not mistaken, i think they list 87 oct as min?
running a higher octane than needed is a waste. from what i´ve read and understand an egine will run better with lower octane. you should run as low of an octane that your motor will allow without detonation. but to be safe you can run an higher octane. better to be sure not to deto than to deto.
the higher octane will hinder rather then improve performance. cause it will burn slower.
to gain from higher octane you need higher compression and more aggressive timing.
i've heard mid grade has the lowest octane by the time you get it, since people never buy it, it just sits in the tanks, which i can believe, i've never bought the stuff, its always reg or "premium" as they call it, for me.
