rule bilge pump observation....

i was pumping out a hull in the yard today by holding the wires of a loose rule bilge pump to a random battery i had laying around.... halfway through pumping the water out, my curiousity got the best of me and i decided to switch the polarity to see whatd happen. to my surprise, it still pumped water out.

It pumps a little slower with the wires switched.

What would you have done if the pump exploded and blew your fingers off?

My dad wired his Attwood 500gph pump backwards and it surprisingly still pushed water out, but very very slowly. Like a trickle.

It will run backwards in reverse polarity.
It'll push water, but slowly.
