Super Jet Rubber in Midshaft housing...

If the rubber piece, the one that is facing outward inside the hull starts to sperate from the midshaft housing. Is the midshaft housing shot or can that rubber seal be replaced?

It's ok to use if just a small area is delaminated. Otherwise the housing needs to be replaced ,

I havce seen people remove the rubber insert completely and 5200 it back in..it works, but def not an ideal solution...


if you do this make sure to align the little grease holes in the rubber section

It looks like the rubber insert is dlaminated from the housing all the way around. Is this common?

No, it's not common but corrosion can take it's toll after a few years. You need a new housing!

FYI, SBT sells complete housings with bearings and seals for $149. I just installed one in my boat.

My local shop has fixed a few of these for me where the rubber separates using a 3m 2 part product. I don't know which one it is exactly but I looked on their site and it looks like a few would actually work.

Only issue is you need the special gun to use the expoxy tubes.
