Surfriding RRP Light-weight Pole Issues

so i bought the light weight pole, because it looks way cooler. bad call. first issue i had was that the lower portion was too flimsey w/o a spacer in place and it was too hard on the back with the spacer in, instead of a spring. i fabd up a spacer out of some Ti that i am able to use both a spacer AND run a spring. problem solved.

next issue is every time im done riding i inspect it to make sure all the harware is still tight and pole is still solid. i noticed that the left hand tube (looking from the tray) always slides up about a 1/4" some times even 3/4". the first time i thought it was because i torqed the pinch bolts improper, so i re-torqed them to spec and still had the same issue. the last 2 times i slid the pole back down i torqed them down REAL tight and still have had the same results?

anyone else have this problem? im running the 26" tubes.

Prob need to use loctite on all bolts

all the pinch bolts are still torqed tight, they arent coming loose. i think that with the webbing cuts there is not enough surface area to properly clamp the tubes.

i just pulled the tube back even. ill have a ride report again tomarrow.

You could tap a set screw into that beatiful pole. Or make sure that threaded rod is on it for sure.

yea kinda sucks. Im sure ruffing up the inside with sandpaper or something would help it grab better. shouldn't have to do anything spending that kind of money on a pole. How does x-scream work when using someone else's steering n bars? Only run it at its shortest point?

Should b able to run whatever steering u want, there adjustable steering aint bad

I have rrp on my xmetal. No looking back here. OP, I would disassemble it and look at everything. Reassemble with loctite and let cure before letting it get wet.

i mean as far as adjustability. i thought the steering cable mount is on the fixed part of the pole not the adj. part. question being you run rrp steering and blowsion bars is that xmetal pole still adjustable?

The steering cable point moves with the adjustable part, so it always stays the same distance from the steering on the x metal.

after i already ordered it bro! now im just tryin to come up with solutions for the tube movement.

rode today and same . just wanted to see if anyone else had similar problems or if "thats normal" rule applies.

to me its odd that your having problem....i have the cast pole on my ski...running the tubes out of the windows....hasnt moved in almost a year of hard riding...

Shaunteezy is right about the webbing. Not as much clamping area. I guarantee ruffing the inside will work. That anodized surfaces are slick against each other. The inside should have had a knurled machined finish

Only thing l would tell you is NOT to over tighten the tube bolts.

Just got done with a new lite weight RRP install and you could do some real damage and void your warranty.Roughing up the ends sounds like a plan.

looks like you're missing the lock nuts for the pinch bolts in the second pic, they should fit inside the channel which keeps them from spinning when you torque everything down....my cast rrp pole has them so figured the lightweight would too
