Your gonna want to run a longer pole setup our your boat it's gonna ride with the nose really low. Trust me...your gonna plow into wakes and waves like that

this thing keeps kicking me off and its getting annoying retyping EVERYTHING I write

the pole def needs to be longer. the pole tubes are 23.5 inches long
the pole is 46 inches from bolt to grips

hopefully i can pick up some tubes in Daytona used or from a vender to add about 5 inches. the bracket will probably still need to go back but I am not doing that before the trip.

The engine is set back an inch in this boat as well. the bed plate to mount bolt holes are slotted and I have to drop in the motor install the bolt loosly then slide it back to seat the coupler. Then I can bolt down the motor mount bolts

I would also move the pole bracket further back. There's almost no rocker inn the rear so it rides really flat.

really?

my pole is right at the front

i dont find it rides flat in any way at all...

quite the opposite

id say it depends on your riding style, height and weight, im 5'11" and weigh around 220lbs, rok always rides nose high

So, here are the motor mount pads after I sanded them. They flattened out quite a bit and I feel will transfer weight from the mounts better. probably me being ocd but I think its for the better. Plus any drop I could get was a good thing. The stock plates from the diner ski where installed when I got the boat but the coupler was way high. I removed all the stock shims and ended up where I needed to be...... Thanks to the work someone else did to the bed plate.

Pics 2 & 3 show the dropped engine bed plate. not pretty (kind of looks like a stick weld) but effective. I trimmed some bead and clearance the drop edges for better spacing between the hull and the plate. there were witness marks showing in the hull were the plate was rubbing in the hull. I also Elongated the bolt holes to get the engine back another 1/4 inch so the coupler was fully engaged

pic 4 shows the throttle cable bracket and its way off. I retimed it but now I cant get the slack out of the cable. ill have to try something else to get full range on motion on the cable

pic five shows the repair to the rub through from the water box. its solid and wont be a problem again. I am putting some turf in to pad the bottom deck until I find a better WB to run in the ski

pic 6 shows the SS washers I used to take up the side to side slack in the pole to pole mount. I still need to fix the bushing issue on the bolt (its a little loose) but that shouldn't be a big deal

last pic is from the other night as i was fitting the engine to find the right shim set-up

and now its time for a PBR and put some exhaust in my boat.

The ski came to me with the pole pivot bolt torqued down tight to take up the slack. That could have broken the mount and the pole base. I just fixed with 2 extra washers. There is still a clearance issue with the pole bushings to the pivot bolt. Ultimatly I will put a center spacer in so i can tighten up the pole.

I looked at some footage of other ROKs in use and they look pretty short as well. It will get run in Daytona as is to get a feel for it and then I'll make a call on what needs to happen. I havent rode the boat yet and I'm looking forward to seeing how it rides..... Good or bad.

Pipe is in and im trying to configure the exhaust hoses and water box a little better

Steve-UK I like the bow eye you have. I dont have one yet and its a little annoying. I will have some loops around the front pole if I need towed but a bow eyelet is on the list

thanks man, that took a lot of searching to find the right d-hook that was stainless and the back was flush

i cant remember where i got it, it was like lowes or home depot i think, then i used stainless countersunk bolts and nylocs

team extreme hooked me up with the tow loop

the anti crush bar over the pole bolt will allow you to tighten the pole up snuggly, if you dont run one you will be forever adding washers until you break something

you are going to love this ski man, i love mine

sjetrider,, so its just a group K flywheel for the Kawi motor, I mistook that thinking you were installing a groupK motor. So will still be a Kawi setup.
Would love to check it out in Daytona, you are more than welcome to come check mine out.

to clear things up, I have an 849 groupk big bore with wet pipe in my 07 SXR. it is coming to Daytona with me as well. I expect to put that power plant in the ROK but right now with all the things I had to remedy I chose to keep 1 boat that I know will be fun down there. the ROK may not be all that it can be as its set up is questionable.

I have a GK lightened flywheel I was thinking about putting on the ROKs stock engine but I don’t have a base gasket here so that is not an option. the cylinders were not machined to give clearance to remove the girdle brackets without pulling the cylinder up to allow the bolts to come out

My GK big bore SXR is in my 07 sxr in my sig

this ROk will be in Daytona with a relatively stock SXR driveline except for factory wet pipe and ADA head yielding 175 compression

hood weighs 12.25 pounds with billet hardware and hood pins.

i need an exhaust elbow from an sxr to make this water box work better. anyone have one i can pick-up in Daytona?
im putting it back in as it was for now.

After some dry runs last night the pole feels pretty good. Other than the slop in the bolt bushings

I'm a heavy rider at 200+ so it may ride ok for me.

On my 550s I am always trying to get my body farther forward.
I don't think I'll have that problem here

So I got to ride it on thurday in daytona and I like it a lot. Didn't get to ride much more than getting the carbs tuned in but it rides nice and has plenty of power,,,, for now

I will probably shorten the pole a little and see if I can get the nose down a little more. If that dosnt work I will have to run a longer ride plate.

I have some pics I'll get loaded up tomorrow of the finished ski before it went south. Now I'm dying to ride this thing.
