took 'ski out this evening, was out for 20 minutes before it completely just died. would barely turn over, and no starting.
from the start there felt like a *slight* loss in performance, but I had just redone some steering components so I was concentrating on that thought more...
got it back to shore and pulled up in my backyard, pulled the head off real quick and yep, this motor is DONE :frown:
long story short, bearing started to slowly shred, tossing peices into the combustion chamber through the intake ports, causing them to act like ping pong balls between piston and dome. things got HOT! notice he discoloration! sleeve cracked on two sides, rod/crank/piston damage, dome damage.
don't know what caused it ... gaskets look great, no bolts of any kind missing... good gas, tons of lube...
which route to go now... for what it was this thing was snappy! sucks that it let go in the of middle summer instead of winter :bs2:
summer saga:
-front nose peice ripped off
-battery terminals broke
-steering cable broke
-steering privot bolt broke
-driveshaft coupler broke
gotta get back in the water ASAP, summer is over fast :brap:
ill post the build when it starts...
some pics of the beat up 'ski... covered in sportbike stickers from my other money pit hobby of track racing. hides scratches and nasty gelcoat nicely.
regards,
andrew
